Doug was born in Orlando, FL and attended Lake Highland Preparatory School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. In 1998, Doug received his Juris Doctor from Stetson University School of Law where he also served as Associate Justice of the Moot Court team.
Doug started his career working as an Assistant State Attorney for the 9th Judicial Circuit. There he was responsible for prosecuting cases ranging from Misdemeanors to First Degree Felonies. After leaving the State Attorney’s Office, Doug worked with The Center for Special Needs Trusts to develop Special Needs Pooled Trusts around the country and assisted other attorneys in placing eligible clients.
In 2006, Doug began his own law firm, Dorner Law Office, with offices in Orlando. During that time, Doug worked mainly in the areas of Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Civil Litigation.
Since joining Cohen Law Group in 2014, Doug has specialized his practice in First Party Insurance Claims, Criminal Defense, and Family Law. In his spare time, Doug has also taught at the University of Central Florida as an assistant adjunct professor.
