Attorney Jared McElwee is a graduate of University of Central Florida where he double majored in Political Science and Legal Studies. Following his time at UCF, Jared attended Stetson University College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor. While in law school, he clerked in an assortment of areas from intellectual property and personal injury to medical malpractice and death penalty cases. Most noticeably, while in law school, Jared was a Federal Judicial Intern for the Honorable Judge Charlene Honeywell of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, where he had the opportunity to brief federal cases and prepare draft opinions for Judge Honeywell.
Following law school, Jared served Orange and Osceola County as an Assistant State Attorney in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. While working for the State of Florida, he prosecuted hundreds of cases ranging from juvenile to felony charges. He spent countless hours in the courtroom litigating in jury trials, bench trials, evidentiary hearings, and motion practice. After leaving the State Attorney’s Office, Jared worked for one of Orlando’s top association law practices where he litigated on behalf of homeowners and condominium associations handling lien foreclosure and covenant enforcement matters.
Jared has taken his wide range of experience with him to Cohen Law Group in order to aggressively advocate on behalf of homeowners and businesses who have had their insurance claims wrongfully delayed, denied or underpaid. Jared strives daily to obtain the best possible outcome for his clients.
Outside of work, Jared spends most of his time with his loving wife and daughters and rooting on the UCF Knights
