Joanna S. Opato is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law. She earned her Bachelors of Business Administration and Information Technology with a concentration in Family Business from Stetson University. Go Hatters!

During law school, she was a judicial intern for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County Criminal Division and worked for a law firm specializing in condominium cases.

After graduation, she continued to pursue litigation in her work as an assistant public defender in the Ninth Judicial Circuit where she handled hundreds of cases at the misdemeanor and felony level including complex economic crimes and drug trafficking cases, attempted murders and worked closely with the Juvenile divisions.

Since joining Cohen Law Group, Joanna has specialized her practice in civil litigation, handling first-party property insurance claims representing homeowners.

In her spare time, Joanna loves spending time with her husband and three kids, rooting on the Buffalo Bills and perfecting her golf swing.
