Kimberlee earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in 2009. After graduating from UCF, she was accepted into Florida International University’s College of Law as a Dean’s Scholar. During her time at FIU Law, Kimberlee served as the Secretary of the Board of Advocates, Day-Division Representative on the Student Bar Association, Founding President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, and competed on both the Trial and Moot Court teams, earning the Best Orator award at the Susan J. Ferrell Intercultural Human Rights Competition. In 2013, she graduated cum laude with her Juris Doctorate along with awards for Excellence in Advocacy and Excellence in Service. In 2016, UCF’s Young Alumni Council awarded her its prestigious Top 30 Under 30 Award for the work that she has done both in her career and in the community.
Prior to joining Cohen Law Group in 2020, Kimberlee served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Don S. Cohn in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County and then as a judicial clerk at the Florida Supreme Court in the Office of the Chief Justice. She then began her litigation experience when she joined the FIU Law’s Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic defending individuals in removal proceedings as well as assisting individuals with visa and citizenship applications. Upon passing the Florida Bar, Kimberlee became an Assistant Public Defender with the Ninth Judicial Circuit in and for Orange and Osceola counties where she served for 5 years handling an array of cases, including high level felonies, misdemeanors, juvenile offenses, and initial appearances. In 2018, she then transitioned into private practice at Fisher Rushmer, P.A. handling insurance defense cases until she started at Cohen Law Group.
Since joining Cohen Law Group, Kimberlee has specialized her practice in civil litigation, handling first-party property insurance claims representing homeowners and contractors around the State of Florida.
Outside of the courtroom, Kimberlee also dedicates her time in the legal community. She was appointed to the Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee D for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in October 2021 for a three-year term. This committee receives and investigates reports of possible lawyer misconduct referred by Bar discipline attorneys. Additionally, Kimberlee currently serves on the board of the Orange County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section and Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She also serves on the 2021-2022 Board of Trustees for the Legal Aid Society of OCBA. Through these organizations, Kimberlee coordinates and participates in numerous charity and volunteer events designed to support those who most need it in Orange County. In 2019, the Legal Aid Society of the OCBA recognized Kimberlee by placing her on their annual Pro Bono Honor Roll and she also accepted a Token of Appreciation from Orange County Public Schools for her contribution, through YLS, to the in-need students of Orange County.
Additionally, she also serves on the young professional’s board for the Pace Center for Girls in Orange, a day-program for middle to high school-aged young women with certified teachers and masters-level counselors trained in strength-base trauma-
informed and gender-responsive care to help them complete their education, build self-esteem and develop strong life skills.
