3 Dead In Jacksonville After 2 Hit-and-Run Accidents

JACKSONVILLE, FL (June 17, 2019) — The Florida Highway Patrol stated that one man was killed after a hit-and-run incident on Sunday morning. It was one of two fatal hit-and-run accidents that occurred over last weekend.

FHP explained that, early on Sunday morning, a male driving a motorized mini-bike was hit by an unidentified automobile on eastbound Butler Boulevard close to Gate Parkway. The 34-year-old man did not survive the accident and his identity was not immediately announced. If you have relevant information regarding the incident, FHP requests that you call (904) 695-4000.

The Sunday morning accident happened a day following another hit-and-run accident where a pair of bicyclists were struck and killed Saturday morning. They were cycling on Racetrack Road around Bartram Springs Parkway. The vehicle was later discovered as a 2016 Hyundai sedan with substantial damage on its front end. However, authorities have not yet found the vehicle’s driver. The driver is described as an African-American male wearing an orange colored shirt. Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact Detective James Jackson at (904) 209-2142.
